How many jobs are you juggling? And how are you doing so far?
Isa lang ba? Dalawa? Tatlo? O baka higit pa?
At ang mas mahalagang tanong…
How are you doing so far?
Not just financially, but mentally, emotionally, and physically.
A few years ago, ang usual na tanong ay, “Ano ang trabaho mo?”
Ngayon, mas common nang marinig ang:
“Teacher ako, tapos may online business.”
“Government employee ako, pero freelancer din.”
“Nurse ako sa abroad, pero may investments at side hustle.”
“Corporate employee ako, tapos content creator sa weekends.”
For many Filipinos, especially professionals, one source of income is no longer enough.
Some are building additional income streams because of rising expenses. Others want to save for retirement, provide better opportunities for their children, pay off debts, or simply pursue something they genuinely enjoy.
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
In fact, I admire people who continuously find ways to grow.
But here’s what I’ve realized…
Having multiple income streams is not the same as having a balanced life.
The Hidden Cost of Juggling Too Much
Kapag nadagdagan ang income, kadalasan nadadagdagan din ang responsibilities.
More clients.
More deadlines.
More messages.
More meetings.
More decisions.
At minsan, mas kaunti ang tulog.
You begin to ask yourself:
“Kailan ba ulit ako nagpahinga?”
“When was the last time I had dinner without checking my phone?”
“Am I still enjoying what I’m doing—or am I just trying to survive?”
Success isn’t just measured by how much you earn.
It’s also measured by whether you still have the energy to enjoy the life you’re working so hard to build.
My Own Balancing Act
Personally, I wear two professional hats.
By day, I serve as a Senior Education Program Specialist in the Department of Education, supporting initiatives that help improve the quality of education.
Outside office hours, I also work as a part-time Sun Life Advisor, helping individuals and families prepare financially for life’s uncertainties and long-term goals.
People sometimes ask me,
“Paano mo napagsasabay?”
The honest answer?
Hindi siya laging madali.
There are days when the calendar is full.
There are evenings spent meeting clients after work.
Weekends sometimes become opportunities to serve instead of simply rest.
But over time, I’ve learned that balance isn’t about giving equal hours to everything.
It’s about giving the right priorities the attention they deserve.
Some seasons require more work.
Other seasons require more rest.
Both are important.
What Keeps Me Going
If there’s one lesson this journey has taught me, it’s this:
Purpose makes the load lighter.
I’m not simply trying to collect income from different sources.
Each role allows me to make a meaningful contribution.
Through my work in education, I help support programs that develop people and strengthen schools.
Through financial advising, I help families prepare for life’s uncertainties and future goals.
Different careers.
One mission.
To help people build better futures.
And whenever I remember that purpose, the long days become more meaningful.
Lessons I’ve Learned Along the Way
If you’re also juggling multiple careers or income streams, here are a few reminders I’d like to share:
Choose opportunities that align with your values.
Not every opportunity is worth saying yes to.
Protect your time.
Your calendar reflects your priorities.
Create systems instead of relying on willpower.
Simple routines can reduce stress and help you stay consistent.
Take care of your health.
Your greatest income-producing asset isn’t your job—it’s you.
Remember why you started.
Income is important, but purpose is what keeps you going for the long run.
One More Question…
Let me leave you with two questions to reflect on.
If one of your income sources disappeared tomorrow…
Would you still be financially okay?
And if your health forced you to stop working for several months…
Would your family still be financially secure?
These aren’t comfortable questions.
But they’re important ones.
Because while we work hard to build our careers, we should also make sure we’re protecting everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve.
Whether you’re building one career or juggling several, I hope you’re doing it with intention—not just for higher income, but for a life that is meaningful, sustainable, and secure.
So, let me ask you once more:
How many jobs are you juggling?
And more importantly… how are you doing so far?
